Is there a way I can search all the books in a specific category? Yes. Leave all the fields blank and select the specific category you are interested in searching from the "Category" field. This will return all the media contained within the category you are interested in reviewing. 2. I am unable to Login to the database with the password I was provided. What is wrong? The password you are entering is case-sensitive and will not allow you to access the database unless the password is identical to the information you received. If you continue to have difficulty, e-mail the HTCTU AMX administrator. 3. There is book information in the database that is incorrect and I want to change it, but when I login to edit the book it cannot be found. Why can't I change this book's content? The information that is entered to the HTCTU AMX database is coded with each user's profile. Thus, one cannot alter the book information of another individual's submission. You may either contact the individual responsible for the erroneous information, or e-mail the HTCTU AMX administrator with the specific information. 4. Do I have to be a member of the California Community College system in order to search this Alternate Media eXchange database? No. Searching the HTCTU Alternate Media eXchange database is opened to all individuals. However, it is necessary that you are a member of the AMX Databse in order to request content from other institutions. Contact the High Tech Center Training Unit AMX administrator for information on how to be part of the AMX Database. 5. I am not from the California community college system. How do I get password so that I may post content to the HTCTU Alternate Media eXchange? Those affiliated with the California community college system or those institutions who have contacted the High Tech Center Training Unit are allowed to post book, video, or tactile graphic information to the Alternate Media eXchange database. While you do not need to be registered with the High Tech Center Training Unit in order to search the AMX database, we do require active participation in the AMX Datbase if you wish to request content in an alternate format. 6. How do I navigate the AMX database using assistive computer technology? The AMX databse was designed to ensure usability and accessibility for those using the database with assistive computer technology. If using assitive computer technology to navigate the AMX database, please refer to the information below that outlines the necessary procedures for accessing the database. For screen-reader users:The AMX database can be used with standard keyboard commands to navigate through the AMX database content. You need to be familiar with web-based forms in order to navigate the database and enter the appropriate information. Use the Tab-key to move sequentially through each form field. You may use the arrow-keys to access "combo boxes" and select the appropriate content. Jaws users: CTRL+INS+HOME will find the first form field element on the web page. You must then press the Num Pad Slash key to turn on the Forms Mode. For screen-magnification users:There is no difficulty using screen-magnification programs with the AMX database. If you have designed your own stylesheet for viewing web-based content, the AMX database is designed to support user-designed stylesheets. |
